Micheal Anthony Clark

Photographer & Makeup Artist

Micheal Anthony Clark of New Orleans, Louisiana, like many great southern artists and photographers, is self taught from life experience, creative instincts and the resources available to him.  Having attended a local beauty college and developed his creative genius on the streets of New Orleans painting the local characters of the day, Micheal spent his formative years pursuing his interest in the arts.

When in 1992 relocating to California where he attended Los Angeles Community College and thePark LaBrea Arts Council, he studied studio lighting and composition. Also, an avid reader, Micheal says he always “reads anything he can get his hands on.”

Influenced by the highly regarded works of Alfred Stieglitz, James Van Der Zee, Gordon Parks and Annie Leibovitz, he focuses on fashion photography, fine arts, architectural design, and conceptual arts to capture personal “moments in time” as well as visually stimulating works.  Micheal is completely present from moment to moment while creating. Nothing is ever planned. He works intuitively and from a natural space.

Micheal has been both the makeup artist and photographer for a cadre of visible and prominent celebrities including: athletes Serena and Venus Williams, actors and entertainers Elise Neal, Star Jones, Lisa Raye, Lela Rochon, Brandy, Patti LaBelle, Shemar Moore and Morris Chestnut, as well as hip hop/rap artists Trina, Kanye West, JaRule, Three 6 Mafia, and DMX. Clark’s published portfolio includes Ebony Magazine, “O” Magazine, Black Men’s Magazine, Code Magazine and Muscle and Fitness Magazine. Other notable credits include shooting for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Elite Academies and Joseph Domingo Designs.

A down to earth person who loves life and people, Micheal is at home in any situation from the gritty Hollygrove neighborhood in New Orleans to the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles and Miami. Micheal credits the diversity in his life to feeding his creativity.  “I want to capture moments that can be referenced long after I am gone.” Lately Micheal has been exhibiting his work in South Florida and currently working on a few books.

Micheal resides in the Miami Florida area and travels frequently to New Orleans and Los Angeles.
